National Indigenous Peoples’ Day

In June, we commemorate National Indigenous History Month and today is National Indigenous Peoples’ Day (June 21). I hope we can all take time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada.

The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) was adopted by the General Assembly in September 2007 which outlines specific key measurables internationally we need to work towards.

Corporations, internationally, are beginning the process of creating their response to this declaration and how they wish to internalize these objectives into the fabric of their culture, strategic plans and policies.

Halcyon Human Resource Professionals have expertise in creating and implementing such plans and can assist your organization to:

  • Create and implement a Reconciliation Action Plan across all facets of your business

  • Build and lead a Reconciliation Working Group to manage and - maintain your goals, policies, governance and measurables.

  • Develop cultural awareness and appreciation of Indigenous culture, histories, knowledge and rights

  • Actualize your goals through specific outcomes relating to recruitment, retention, and professional development objectives

  • Promote positive race relations through inclusivity and diversity strategies

Talk to a Halcyon Human Resource Professional if your organization is ready to commence this amazing journey towards reconciliation.
